Maple Lane is a warm and winding path through the lush highlands of Papua New Guinea—a coffee that wraps you in nostalgia from the very first sip. Rich notes of maple and toasted pecan unfold like the memory of weekend pancakes, while a gentle thread of cocoa grounds the cup in velvety depth. It’s sweet, soft, and quietly comforting—like coming home.

About The Farm
  • This lot comes from Kindeng Estate, a 350-hectare farm located in the fertile Waghi Valley of Jiwaka Province. Coffee was first planted here over a century ago by missionaries, but the estate's commercial legacy began in the 1960s under the guidance of Australian entrepreneur Walter Carpenter. His investment in the land and infrastructure helped turn Kindeng into a cornerstone of estate-grown coffee in PNG.
  • Today, the farm is run by Carpenter Estates, a group that oversees several major estates in the region. With a focus on traceability and quality, Kindeng employs both permanent and seasonal staff from surrounding communities, helping support rural livelihoods. The estate’s location—marked by sloping terrain, rich volcanic soils, and cool highland climates—creates ideal growing conditions for coffee, with harvests typically peaking between May and September.

Maple Lane / Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea is a singular origin in the coffee world—remote, diverse, and culturally rich. Situated on the eastern edge of the Indonesian archipelago, PNG is home to nearly 7 million people who speak over 800 languages. Its isolation and tribal landscapes give rise to coffees with distinct character, shaped by both nature and tradition.

Nicely roasted, and smells divine in the bag. But I tried it as espresso, French press, and V60 pour-over, and there's always notes punching through that I don't like when drank black. It's not cocoa, maple, pecan, or caramel, it's more like strong tea and something else I can't put my finger on. I can only tame it with milk. Not a re-buy for me, I'll try something else next time. YMMV.
