About The Farm
  • Banko Chelchele is situated in the Gedeb Woreda of Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone, within the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR). This area is celebrated for producing some of Ethiopia’s most exceptional coffee, thanks to its high altitude, rich soils, and ideal climate. Coffee farming here is deeply woven into the community’s way of life, providing both income and cultural identity. Families rely on coffee as their primary livelihood, and the harvest season brings the community together, blending tradition with shared purpose. The people of Chelchele take great pride in their coffee heritage, and generations of expertise are reflected in the meticulous care they give their crops.
  • This microlot is processed using the traditional natural method. Fully ripe cherries are handpicked, sorted, and sun-dried with the pulp intact over 2–4 weeks, with regular turning to ensure even drying. Once the cherries reach the ideal moisture content, they are rested, then hulled and milled to reveal the green coffee beans. This approach emphasizes the coffee’s inherent flavors, producing a cup with complex, fruity notes that celebrate both the land and the expertise of the Chelchele community.

Jam Jar // Ethiopia

In Ethiopia, heirloom varietals bloom wild and untamed, their roots intertwined with forest soil, producing vibrant, complex flavours where floral, winey, and fruity notes dance with the mountain air. Landrace coffees, in contrast, are the quiet poets of their landscapes, shaped over centuries by sun, soil, and climate, evolving naturally to survive and thrive, with flavours that reflect their environment—citrus, honey, and gentle sweetness. Together, heirlooms and landraces offer a window into coffee’s intimate stories, inviting each sip to be an encounter with living legacy, where wildness and care, tradition and discovery, come together in a cup.
