A world-class coffee from a record-breaking farm.
In 2025, Hacienda La Esmeralda captivated the global coffee community by setting two world records at the prestigious Best of Panama (BOP) competition—scoring 98.00 points for its Geisha Washed and 97.00 points for its Geisha Natural. This unprecedented achievement, recognized by 22 international judges, further cemented Esmeralda’s status as one of the most celebrated coffee producers in the world.

Located near Boquete, Panama, Hacienda La Esmeralda is owned by the Peterson Family. Originally a cattle ranch founded in 1967 by Rudolph Peterson, the farm transitioned to coffee cultivation and changed the landscape of specialty coffee when it introduced the Geisha variety to the global stage in 2004.

The Nido plot—perched on the westernmost section of the estate at 2020 meters above sea level—provides an exceptional microclimate for cultivating Geisha coffee. Here, cherries undergo a natural processing method: and then spends 48 days drying in climate controlled rooms, preserving clarity while enhancing fruit-forward complexity.

In the cup, the Hacienda La Esmeralda Natural Geisha Nano Lot Nido delivers vibrant bergamot and coffee blossom aromatics, supported by juicy mango and plum notes. Its natural processing intensifies the fruity profile while maintaining a clean, elegant finish—a true testament to why Panamanian Geisha coffee continues to command the world’s attention.
