About the Farm & Producer

Mil Cumbres is a boutique coffee farm located in the Cordillera region of Chiriquí, Panama, near the town of Volcán. The farm is situated at elevations between 1,600 and 2,000 meters, benefiting from volcanic soil and a rich biodiversity that forms part of the Baru Volcano National Park. The name "Mil Cumbres" translates to "thousand hills," reflecting the farm's hilly terrain.

The farm is owned by Mario Fonseca and Arturo Klein, with coffee production managed by Ratibor Hartmann. Mil Cumbres was established in 2019, converting an old cattle pasture into a specialty coffee farm. The farm grows various coffee varietals, including Geisha, Pacamara, Bourbon, Mocca, Maracatura, and San Ramón, among others. The production methods are biologically friendly, utilizing manual labor, biological fertilizers, and disease preventatives, with limited use of chemicals.

Mil Cumbres' commitment to quality and sustainable practices has positioned it as a notable producer in Panama's specialty coffee scene.

Established on a former cattle pasture, the farm spans approximately 60 hectares, with 25 hectares dedicated to coffee cultivation and the remaining area preserved as native jungle within the Barú Volcano National Park.
