About The Farm
  • Wachuri Farmers’ Co-operative Society is located in Nyeri County, one of Kenya’s most famous coffee-growing regions. Established in 2000 after breaking away from Tetu Coffee Growers, the co-operative now represents about 900 active smallholder farmers. These farmers cultivate mainly SL28, SL34, Batian, and Ruiru 11 on small plots of land spread across the rich, volcanic foothills between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range. With high elevations and cool nights, this region consistently produces coffees with vibrant acidity and complex fruit flavours.
  • Processing at Wachuri follows Kenya’s traditional washed method. Ripe cherries are handpicked, depulped, and fermented to remove mucilage before being washed in clean channels. The parchment is then soaked in fresh water and dried slowly on raised beds, with frequent turning and sorting to ensure quality. Wachuri’s commitment to both careful processing and farmer support has made them a reliable source of exceptional coffees, known for clarity, structure, and depth.

Currant Mood / Kenya

Coffee from Nyeri, Kenya, is renowned for its exceptional quality and vibrant flavour profiles. Grown in the fertile, red volcanic soils between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range, Nyeri coffees benefit from high elevations, cool nights, and steady rainfall, all of which slow cherry maturation and produce dense, complex beans. These conditions, combined with the region’s traditional washed processing methods, yield coffees celebrated for their bright, wine-like acidity, layered sweetness, and pronounced notes of berries, citrus, and florals. Nyeri’s coffees consistently stand out on the global stage for their clarity, balance, and depth, making the region one of the most prized origins in specialty coffee.
