Hacienda Barbara, nestled in the volcanic highlands of Boquete, Panama, is renowned for producing exceptional specialty coffees. Under the stewardship of Hunter Tedman and Linda Arauz, the farm emphasizes sustainable practices and meticulous cultivation methods to yield coffees with balanced profiles, vibrant character, and delicate sweetness.
The farm's elevation, ranging from 1,200 to 2,100 meters above sea level, combined with fertile volcanic soils and optimal weather conditions, provides an ideal terroir for cultivating high-quality Geisha coffee. Innovative processing techniques, including yeast fermentation developed at the Beneficio Bajareque processing plant, contribute to the unique flavour profiles of their coffees.
Hacienda Barbara Washed Geisha greets you with a bouquet of jasmine and orange blossom aromatics, leading into a vibrant palate of tropical fruit and a hint of golden raisin. The cup finishes clean and crisp, with a balanced acidity and a silky texture that highlights the elegance of the Geisha varietal.
The washed process involves selectively handpicking ripe cherries, followed by careful fermentation to remove mucilage. The beans are then sun-dried on raised African beds, enhancing the coffee’s clarity and sweetness while showcasing the unique characteristics of Hacienda Barbara’s high-altitude terroir.
