We featured Kilimbi last year with a hydro-honey process, and this time we're offering a full-natural process. The natural processing brings out more fruit notes (such as blueberry) along with creating a rich, sticky body. All this while still maintaining the classic Rwandan black tea notes!

Kilimbi is one of the most progressive mills in Rwanda. Founded in 2016, Kilimbi, along with its sister station, Rugali, became the first mills in Rwanda to legally process Honey and Natural coffees—all in their first year of operations!
Kilimbi's focus has always been on the production of the highest quality coffee. The team behind Kilimbi work with 463 farmers that deliver coffee cherries to the mill from the surrounding area. When these farmers arrive, they’re sent to stations to sort through and separate the ripest, cleanest cherries from the under ripe, over ripe, and defective.
Through education and higher premiums per pound of cherry, the team at Kilimbi and MTCo are hoping that their already very high coffee quality will improve, solely based on these incentives.

We source directly from producers when we can to make sure the most profit gets to the farmer. Our sourcing values are shown through our icons on each of our coffee labels and on the back of our coffee bags.
Our 340g and 2lb coffee bags are made entirely of from plant materials and breakdown in a relatively short period of time.
Can I put my used bag in the city compost?
Putting these bags in the city of Calgary's compost is not recommended, due to the current processing facility. However, you can compost the outer lining in a healthy home compost (see further down the page for for info).
Alternative
These bags will break down 90% faster in the landfill than the majority of coffee bags on the market.
